Fans have been calling for *American Pickers* to be canceled after the show’s ratings dropped to a season low. Ratings for the highly anticipated Carnival-themed episode of *American Pickers* have now been revealed, and the numbers show a significant surge. Season 26 of *American Pickers*, which stars Mike and Robbie Wolfe, John “Jersey” Chalet, and Danielle Colby, has struggled to bring in viewers.
The *U.S. Sun* can exclusively reveal that the November 6th, 2024, episode titled *Carnival Cashout* had a surge in ratings, with 547,000 viewers. In the episode, Mike (60) and Jersey (61) checked out a 4-generation carnival collection that featured carousel horses and bumper cars. Fans were eagerly anticipating the new episode, as one wrote on social media ahead of the show, “I’m going to love this. I’ve always loved merry-go-round horses!” Another commented, “I love carousels. How amazing!”
The ratings boost comes after the *DIY DeLorean* episode, which aired on October 30 and brought in the lowest ratings of the season with just 442,000 viewers. The third episode of the season, *The Great Ruli*, saw a slight surge with 566,000 viewers on October 23, marking the highest ratings of the season. The second episode of the season, *Wolfman vs. the Automations*, brought in just 463,000 viewers on October 16. The premiere episode on October 9 brought in 565,000 viewers as Mike picked through vintage memorabilia.
The ratings for *American Pickers* in season 26 are drastically lower compared to last season. Season 25 brought in 723,000 viewers for part one of the premiere and 676,000 for part two. Episode 3 of Season 25 had 880,000 viewers, and by the January 24 episode, ratings increased to 948,000 viewers. The February 28 episode brought in 966,000 viewers, and the season finale on March 27 had 832,000 viewers.
Currently, the most-watched show on the History Channel is *William Shatner’s Unexplained*. As of November 7, *Unexplained* had 696,000 viewers, while *Proof Is Out There* and *Mountain Men* came in second and third, respectively. *American Pickers* is now the fourth most-watched show on the network.
Some fans have even been calling for the show’s cancellation. “This show needs to go, cancel this show, it’s a husk of what it was,” one fan wrote. Another said, “It was never good, this show ruined the buying and selling market.” A third asked, “Will *American Pickers* continue?”
Despite the ratings crisis and fan backlash, *The U.S. Sun* reported in May 2024 that the series still has more seasons left in its contract. They’re currently filming for season 26 and have signed on for three more years. An insider claimed that Mike revealed earlier this month that he would start filming for the new season soon.
### Meet the Cast of *American Pickers*
*American Pickers* is a History Channel series that follows a group of pickers as they travel across America in search of antiques, from vintage signs to rare cars.
– **Mike Wolfe** has been on *American Pickers* since the premiere episode in 2010. He starred alongside his longtime friend Frank Fritz, who last appeared on the show in March 2020. Mike owns *Antique Archaeology* in Le Claire, Iowa, and Nashville, Tennessee. He currently lives in Leipers Fork, Tennessee.
– **Danielle Colby** has been with the show from the start. She oversees the *Antique Archaeology* stores and scouts picks for the crew. Danielle is also passionate about burlesque and often promotes her shows and classes on social media.
– **Robbie Wolfe**, Mike’s younger brother, had a guest role on the series through the years and officially replaced Frank in 2021. Robbie lives in Davenport, Iowa, where he runs his store, *United Service Motors*.
– **John “Jersey” Chalet** had a guest role on the show before being promoted to a full-time cast member in 2023. The New Jersey native loves motorcycles and has a knack for restoring furniture and antiques.
### Missing Frank
When original cast member Frank Fritz was on the show, ratings often topped over a million viewers. Frank last appeared on *American Pickers* in March 2020. He took time off to undergo back surgery, but in 2021, Mike revealed that Frank would not be returning to the series.
In a 2021 interview, Frank told *The U.S. Sun* that he had been feuding with Mike. In an interview with *People* earlier this month, Mike explained that Frank didn’t return to the show because, during the pandemic, he injured his back and underwent surgery. With his time off, he became addicted to opioids, which Mike said caused everything to change. Mike staged an intervention with Frank’s loved ones but claimed Frank continued to struggle with addiction when filming resumed. Production asked Frank for negative drug tests, but he didn’t provide them. The network ultimately made the decision to part ways with Frank.
A source claimed to *The U.S. Sun* that Frank’s substance abuse battle began after his diagnosis with Crohn’s disease, which left his bones weak. After breaking his back, he needed surgery, and that’s when he got addicted to pain medication. The insider also claimed that Frank went to rehab twice to combat his addiction issues, got out, and then suffered a stroke. In July 2022, Frank suffered a stroke at his Iowa farmhouse, and his friends filed for guardianship and conservatorship due to his impaired decision-making capacity. He passed away in hospice on September 30, 2024, at the age of 60.
Despite the firing and feud, Mike and Frank ultimately reconciled. Mike and other loved ones were by Frank’s side when he passed away in hospice.
Frank’s good friend, Jerry Jendro, previously told *The U.S. Sun* how the series hasn’t been the same without the star. “I think the show is not nearly as good as it was. The ratings, it doesn’t have to be me or somebody thinking that—the nation knows it’s not what it was. It needed Frank.”
