Captain Kirk Golborne Faces Off Against Rival Boats in a Battle for King Crabs
Captain Kirk Golborne has struck gold in a lucrative crab-fishing zone east of the mud pit. If his crew manages to haul up two lines within the next three hours, they will have all the traps on board within 24 hours. That’s how the job gets done out here, and the team is eager to move fast.
The first pull looks promising. “We’ve got king crabs!” Kirk exclaims as the crew reels in a trap full of massive, beautiful crabs. “There are a lot of them!” The tally for the first haul: 41 crabs.
Feeling lucky, Kirk and his team set their sights on the next trap. But just as the buoy is snagged, the line refuses to budge. “Damn it,” Kirk mutters. “It’s tangled.” The crew quickly realizes that another boat’s gear is intertwined with theirs.
“Maybe back it up a little,” one crew member suggests, hoping to free the rope. But as they investigate further, it becomes clear: the culprit is the Southern Wind, captained by Hurley.
The tangled mess proves that Hurley didn’t believe Kirk when he claimed this area was his. As the Wizard’s crew struggles to free their traps, frustration builds.
“This isn’t the first time he’s done this,” Kirk grumbles.
After working diligently, the crew finally untangles the lines, allowing the Wizard to resume fishing. But another problem arises—one of their traps is missing.
“Where’s our trap? I don’t see it,” a crew member shouts.
“Where did you set it? Do you see it?” Kirk demands.
The answer soon becomes clear: Hurley has crushed Kirk’s traps with his own gear.
“I don’t need this crap right now,” Kirk fumes. “I promised my guys we’d haul up 200 traps in 24 hours. And now, all of a sudden, I realize Hurley has wrecked my gear.”
Hurley has turned Kirk’s streak of good luck into a nightmare.
“This is war,” Kirk declares. “I’m not standing by and taking this.”
The crew quickly devises a plan to send Hurley a message. “Hook onto that trap,” Kirk orders. “Take the buoy, make a hole in it so it fills with water, and toss it back overboard.”
With the buoy full of water, Hurley’s crew won’t be able to haul their trap up easily. “This isn’t my first time out here, boys,” Kirk smirks. “And it won’t be my last.”
The Rival Captain Fights Back
Meanwhile, on Hurley’s boat, confusion reigns.
“There’s nothing here,” a crew member says, peering into an empty trap.
“Is this a joke? Where did the crabs go?” another asks.
When they finally manage to pull up their waterlogged buoy, reality sets in. “It’s full of water!” one of Hurley’s men exclaims.
“I think someone cut this,” another crew member mutters.
Hurley, realizing what has happened, growls, “Someone sabotaged me. And I think I know who did it.”
Back on the Wizard, Kirk isn’t backing down. “Hurley made his move, now it’s my turn,” he says as he grabs the radio to confront his rival.
“Wizard to Southern Wind. Do you copy?”
Hurley responds, “Yeah, I hear you loud and clear.”
“I think you and I are the only boats in this area,” Kirk states.
“That’s right,” Hurley confirms.
“Well, my traps were here yesterday. They’ve been soaking for five days. But now, all of a sudden, they’re empty. And I find that suspicious.”
Hurley scoffs, “If you’re accusing me of stealing your crabs, you’ve got the wrong guy.”
Kirk doesn’t let up. “Then tell me, Hurley—how did you know exactly where my traps were? You crushed my gear, and that cost me valuable time.”
“This is karma, my friend,” Hurley retorts. “You snoop around someone else’s gear, and your traps come up empty.”
Kirk fires back, “I’ll be watching you. You dropped your gear in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and with the wrong guy.”
Hurley, unfazed, chuckles. “Sure thing, buddy. We’ll be watching you too.”
As Kirk signs off, he shakes his head. “And that guy is supposed to be my friend?”
The Rivalry Continues
One thing is clear: the battle between the Wizard and the Southern Wind isn’t over. Hurley and Kirk have a long history, and tensions continue to rise. With thousands of dollars on the line, neither captain is backing down.
“We won’t stop here,” Kirk vows. “We’ll see how this plays out soon enough.”
