SHOW OVER? American Pickers fans fear for show’s future after Mike Wolfe reveals his new reality series following ratings slump
FANS are concerned that American Pickers could be coming to an abrupt halt after learning of Mike Wolfe’s new venture.
Mike, 60, is the creator of hit television series American Pickers, but could the iconic show now be hanging in the balance after fans dug up some new info?
The TV star and antiques expert has a new show on the horizon, which has sparked worry and concern among his dedicated fans.
The History Channel is launching a new docuseries with Mike, titled History’s Greatest Picks with Mike Wolfe.
The show will follow the American Pickers star as he “dives into the stories and values behind legendary treasures, relics, and artifacts from history”.
According to Deadline, the series will comprise of eight parts and will be produced by Cineflix Productions with Wolfe, J.C. Mills, Tanya Blake and Max Micallef executive producing.
As soon as one fan learned of the news, they rushed to an American Pickers dedicated Reddit group to speculate about what this means for the iconic TV show.
“Mike Wolfe has a new show coming – does this mean the end of Pickers?” they asked, seemingly worried that Mike’s new venture could impact Pickers.
Other fans didn’t share the original poster’s fear though, and instead shared their excitement for the new show.
“Can’t wait,” added another.
While a third offered: “Probably not the end of the show. Look at Josh Gates and his ever multiplying shows while still doing Expedition Unknown.”
And a fourth penned: “Hopefully not!”
As well as being a star on American Pickers, Mike runs an antiques website called Antique Archaeology.
The website allows fans of the show to shop online for merchandise designed by him.
He also runs a blog on the site and takes submissions from people who may want to give up their antiques.
Back in January The U.S. Sun revealed how badly season 26 of American Pickers was doing ratings-wise.
RATINGS SLUMP
We revealed that the show was continuing to struggle compared to previous seasons.
In one episode, which aired in January, the ratings dwindled even though Mike’s brother Robbie dropped a whopping $13,000 on a rare vintage sign.
Season 26 of American Pickers stars brothers Mike and Robbie Wolfe, Jon “Jersey” Szalay and Danielle Colby.
Despite a dramatic episode airing in mid-January, just 629,000 viewers tuned in.
The ratings for Season 26 are drastically low compared to last season.
One of the highest-rated episodes for Season 25 had 966,000 viewers on February 28, 2024.
Numbers reached the millions when former host Frank Fritz, who passed away on September 30, 2024, was on the show.
Frank last appeared on American Pickers in March 2020.
