Researchers Found Something In The Oak Island Money Pit Science Can't Explain
For over 200 years, people have been fascinated by the enigmatic site that is Oak Island. Located just off the southern coast of the province of Nova Scotia, Oak Island has been the location of a more than 200-year search for treasure. However, one of the main reasons why this search has taken so long is that pretty much all these men have failed in this mission toward treasure-hunting glory. From the people who began this search at the end of the century to those who plow through the mysterious island today, none of these men or women have unearthed the most sought-after chest of gold. Some have even given their lives to these causes.
That said, it has not all been in vain, especially when you learn that recently the current generation of adventurers has fed into the fascination of this island by making one of the most unbelievable discoveries in the island’s history. Let’s join the Lagina brothers and their team as they go further than any other in the quest of solving the mystery of this enthralling island.
Upon learning that the Lagina brothers have dedicated a good chunk of their lives to breaking the mold when it comes to treasure hunting on Oak Island, one would understand how easily it could occur when they come to terms with how bewitching the prospect of finding a fortune is. You can’t blame anyone for believing that they could change their lives by uncovering the centuries-old gold that was rumored to be hidden on the island. Unfortunately, like pretty much all of their predecessors, the Lagina brothers and their team were unsuccessful in discovering anything of note for the first few years of their adventure on Oak Island.
Although they were met with many obstacles to progress with their adventures, their efforts still yielded some fruits because this gained them the attention of the A&E network. Enchanted with the brothers’ endeavors, the A&E Network saw the potential to create something special around treasure hunting. Consequently, the A&E network collaborated with the Lagina brothers to create The Curse of Oak Island TV show so that they could televise the brothers’ adventure on Oak Island.
As such, the brothers were not only able to recoup their spending so far, they were also able to use the investment from the A&E network and other collaborators to obtain state-of-the-art equipment to help them go further in their search for treasure than any of their other predecessors. It must be noted that this influx of funds and advanced equipment didn’t mean that the team was met with immediate success. In fact, despite these new facilities being made available to the team, the guys didn’t make any important discoveries during the first two seasons of their show.
Nonetheless, the team showed their passion and determination toward their project by continuing to drill and dig until they found what they and thousands of men over the period of two centuries or more have been desperately searching for. After the third season, the explorers finally made a breakthrough. One of the most important discoveries of this time was the unearthing of a ceremonial Roman sword. Understandably, this created a ton of excitement because it may mean that for some reason ancient Romans somehow crossed the Atlantic so that they could find their way to Oak Island even before Christopher Columbus.
This initial discovery seemed to open the floodgates because they soon came across many other enthralling findings of relics and artifacts. One of the most important of these discoveries was the finding of a handcrafted replica of a map of France. Upon making this finding, the team requested the help of Zena Halper, a well-respected historian and specialist in seafaring. Upon analysis of the artifact, the historian was able to determine that the map dated to the middle of the 17th century, 1647 to be precise. She also believed that the riches that seemed to be detailed on the map may lead them to the shores of Africa.
Apart from the discovery of this map, the team also came across fragments of a book during their constant digging. Upon further analysis of the fragments, the team discovered that these fragments must have been part of a bookbinder. Following this, the brothers came to the conclusion that the rest of this document must be somewhere on the island. That said, the discovery of a piece of parchment fashioned from animal skin stole the attention of the adventurers. This parchment was attributed to a pair of adventurers known as William Chappell and Frederick Blair, who were believed to have been alive around sometime in the 15th century. This was a period in time when only the rich and wealthy could send mail.
Apart from this, the explorers also came across some gold coins somewhere close to a place most Oak Island enthusiasts are familiar with: the fabled Money Pit. Unfortunately, it is believed that Chappell and Blair’s search for treasure was brought to an end by something that ruined this trip for many other adventurers: the constant flooding of the island. As we all know, many others who followed the adventurers failed just like Chappell and Blair. Many notable people, even President Roosevelt, weren’t able to solve the enigma of Oak Island, which is why the search carries on to this day.
Together with Craig Tester and the Blankenships, the Lagina brothers may just have the best chance to reveal the secrets of the island. Especially with Dan Blankenship, an avid hunter who gave up his contracting firm so that he could assist the Lagina brothers with their dreams. The Lagina brothers have been on this treasure-hunting path ever since they were kids. Some believe it all began when the older of the two, Rick, came across a boulder. Intrigued, he decided to recruit his kid brother and some friends to dig into this boulder. Surely there must be some treasure hidden underneath. Alas, the brothers were met with what seems to be the first of many disappointments when it came to their treasure-hunting endeavors, as this proved to be a fruitless exercise.
Nevertheless, their passion was ignited with this first run. Soon, they learned about the mysterious Oak Island, and as soon as they were able, the Lagina brothers dragged Dan Blankenship along with them so that they could purchase the rights to Oak Island. Following this, they embarked on the path that was created by the originator of this entire mystery, Daniel McGinnis. McGinnis is said to be the originator because it was he who came across and eventually created the legendary Money Pit. This occurred in 1796 when the young man came across a circular impression on a path on the island. Intrigued by tales of people hiding treasure on the island, McGinnis and his friends dug into this hole to create the legendary Money Pit.
Unfortunately, even after spending a decade on this project, this would prove to be the first of many fruitless excavations on Oak Island. After the McGinnis group quit, the Onslow Company followed suit. They would prove to come away with no gold as well. Instead, they found a stone tablet with a cryptic message inscribed onto its surface: “40 feet below, 2 million pounds lie buried.” Regardless, many still assumed people like Marie Antoinette or William Shakespeare had something to do with the rumored hidden treasure. As you can imagine, nobody has made any discoveries to prove these theories.
That said, the Lagina brothers have come across hundreds, if not thousands, of findings that capture the imagination. Among these findings was the discovery of human remains, which belonged to two different people. We say different people because one set of bones belonged to a Middle Eastern person, while the other belonged to a European. Aside from that, another notable discovery was the finding of a small cross with medieval letters inscribed onto it. Upon analysis, Halper speculated that this may have belonged to those who followed Tanit, the Phoenician goddess of fertility. Upon discovering that the cross’s lead covering hid a golden body, the team came to believe that this may have been used to smuggle gold onto the island.
As such, you cannot blame the brothers for continuing their hunt on Oak Island. Despite not finding any actual treasure, you can’t ignore the fact that the brothers and the A&E network have made a success of the show. With any luck, they will one day be the ones to unearth the treasure of Oak Island.
