American Pickers Star Frank Fritz’s Illinois Antique Store Cluttered with Bandages, Coffee Cup Lids, and Dirty Napkins
Frank Fritz’s Illinois antique store, Frank Fritz Finds, is cluttered with dirty napkins, bandages, and more garbage.
The 60-year-old American Pickers star owns the store, located in Savannah, Illinois, about 47 miles from his La Claire, Iowa farmhouse. Exclusive photos obtained by The US Sun show the state of disarray inside the shop, which is situated in the back room of Barle Dogs.
In one set of photos, a coffee cup lid and a used napkin are seen sitting on antique furniture. Another picture shows two rolls of bandages on a counter, with other antiques in view. Empty boxes are also left around the shop.
The US Sun previously reported on the store’s bad conditions. In one photo, a glass display case appears stained, making it difficult to see the antiques inside. Cobwebs are visible on some of the items.
Recent reviews reflect customer dismay over the store’s state. One Google reviewer wrote, “Nice people, but in all honesty, it was almost like seeing things that were left in an attic. It would not be my first choice to check out around the area.” Another reviewer noted, “The dim lighting could use more lights.” A third review said, “Huge disappointment, not worth the stop. The conditions were similar to photos from August, where cobwebs were seen on a vintage mannequin and on the window sills.”
While the store’s interior may need work, improvements have been made to the exterior. The US Sun previously revealed photos of new modern windows installed after construction took place in August.
Financial Struggles for Frank Fritz Finds
Frank Fritz Finds reportedly has annual sales of just $25,000, according to a business valuation report. The store’s business credit score is 27, which is considered medium risk. Financial stability risk ratings also show a medium-high risk, with a four-out-of-five rating. This suggests a 10% potential risk of severe financial distress within the next 12 months.
Frank’s Health and Future Plans
Frank Fritz hasn’t been involved in the business since suffering a stroke in July 2022. His close friends filed an emergency petition for a temporary guardian and conservator in August, claiming that his decision-making capacity was severely impaired. The conservatorship papers, exclusively obtained by The US Sun, reveal plans to revamp the store.
The initial plan, filed by the conservator, suggests that while Mr. Fritz is a well-known collector with valuable collections in outbuildings, these items will mostly remain untouched. The conservator plans to stock the store in Savannah as needed, and is hopeful that Frank will be able to participate in selecting and pricing items, as he did before.
A source previously told The US Sun that Frank is walking again after the stroke left the right side of his body paralyzed. Frank last appeared on American Pickers in a March 2020 episode, before taking time off to recover from back surgery that left him with 185 stitches and two rods in his spine.
In 2021, Mike announced that Frank was no longer with the show. Frank later revealed his feud with co-host Mike during a 2021 interview with The US Sun, but the two have since reconciled. They reunited over Memorial Day weekend and are reportedly friends today. An insider told The US Sun, “Everything between them is fine. They’ve known each other for 40 years, they’ve gone to high school together, and they’ve done all this stuff together.” Mike has reportedly visited Frank a handful of times since the reunion.
