Captain Sean Palomranki’s Bold Mining Ambition
Captain Sean Palomranki, the man known as Mr. Gold, is determined to stay at the top of Gnome’s gold mining heap. With his custom-built 80-ton excavator barge, he’s aiming to mine 1,000 ounces of gold this summer, totaling $1.2 million to cover operating costs and fund his ultimate mining goal.
The goal: completing the Mega Dredge, an 825-ton machine that will revolutionize mining in Gnome forever.
“Mining is about innovation,” Palomranki says. “You’ve got to keep advancing, building things better, and moving forward.” He adds, “I’ve never seen that much gold all at once.”
Palomranki’s name is synonymous with a mining dynasty in Gnome. “If somebody can beat that, they can kiss my…,” he says confidently. Known as a top innovator, he has been leaving his rivals in a cloud of gold dust.
Last season, Mr. Gold pulled in nearly 800 ounces of gold. With enough materials gathered to begin construction on his Mega Dredge, Sean’s ambitious project is set to blow people’s minds this summer.
“We don’t have much time to get it in the water,” he admits. “I’ve got an ace up my sleeve to get the gold we need to fund the dredge’s completion.”
The Christine Rose is equipped with a newly extended boom, which allows Palomranki to reach over 600 feet further from the shoreline. This opens up a large section of previously untapped ground.
“This new boom allows us to touch gold that was out of reach before,” Palomranki explains. “I’ve worked this area for years, and I know there’s gold out there.”
Since its inception, the Christine Rose has mined in depths up to 10 feet. Now, with the added six feet to the excavator, Palomranki will be able to access over 600 square yards of virgin ground and mine golden pay streaks that were once inaccessible.
The first bucket from the Christine Rose shows promise, signaling the beginning of what could be a profitable season. “Feels good to be back on the Christine Rose,” Palomranki says. “Let’s see if we can make some money.”
The excavation process feeds raw material into the hopper, which sorts it through a wash plant and sleigh box to reveal gold. “You have to get rid of the big rocks, so the gold falls into the sleigh boxes,” says Palomranki.
However, the cost of the Mega Dredge remains high. “The Mega Dredge is Mega—especially the expense,” he notes. Sean still needs to raise $500,000 to finish the project, meaning the Christine Rose will need to run around the clock all summer to meet that goal.
“The Christine Rose is making money, but we need more to pay for the Mega Dredge,” he says. “We’re getting closer every day.”
The Mega Dredge’s wash plant will be capable of processing 9,600 cubic yards of material a day—seven times the gold-getting power of the Christine Rose.
Sean Palomranki is also repurposing materials, including the bed of an abandoned dump truck, to help build the hopper for the Mega Dredge. “Sometimes you don’t have a lot of money, so you have to improvise,” he explains. “One person’s junk is another person’s treasure.”
With progress underway, the big dredge is coming together, but Palomranki knows there’s still a long road ahead. “We’re going to get it started and moving in the right direction,” he concludes.
