Deadliest Catch’s Sig Hansen and His Wife Walk the Red Carpet After Her Cancer Diagnosis
In July, Captain Sig Hansen was devastated when he learned of his wife’s cancer diagnosis during an episode of Deadliest Catch. Two months later, a Discovery representative confirms that June Hansen is “doing fine” and “was lucky to catch it early.”
On September 14, the couple made their first red carpet appearance since June’s scary health condition was revealed on television. Sig and his wife of 21 years got all dressed up for the 71st Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California in honor of two exciting nominations for Deadliest Catch: Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Program.
The longtime captain—who can usually be found wearing jeans and work boots on board the Northwestern—wore a tuxedo for the occasion, while his wife looked stunning in a formal jumpsuit.
They were also joined by their daughter Mandy, who is preparing to take over her father’s ship in the wake of Sig’s own recent health struggles. Her husband Clark was at the ceremony as well.
While the Discovery show did not win in either category on Saturday, fans were still delighted to see Captain Sig and his family looking happy and in good health.
Some joked that Sig cleans up well “for an old sea dog” while others commented on Mandy’s resemblance to June.
