'American Pickers' Star Danielle's Instagram Disappears After Trump Chat

American Pickers star Danielle Colby’s Instagram account has disappeared shortly after she called for political unity following President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

On January 20, Trump became the 47th president of the United States at a ceremony on Capitol Hill. Later that day, Colby took to Instagram to share resources and encourage her followers to “band together.”

Though she didn’t mention Trump by name, Colby’s posts clearly alluded to the president. In a video shared on her Instagram Story and feed, under the handle @daniellecolbyamericanpicker, she spoke directly to her followers, announcing the possibility that her account could “disappear.”

Her account has since been removed from the platform, and it is unclear whether she deleted it herself. Newsweek has contacted Instagram and a spokesperson for Colby for comment via email.

As of Tuesday morning, links to @daniellecolbyamericanpicker led to a message that said: “Sorry, this page isn’t available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed. Go back to Instagram.”

In her Inauguration Day post, Colby told her followers: “Hey everybody, Danielle Colby from American Pickers here. Just wanted to say a few words of encouragement. First of all, should this page disappear, which it could soon, so if this page should disappear, go to @daniellecolbywashere, I’ll also link up to that one too. Otherwise, you can follow my Patreon.”

She continued: “Don’t be down, don’t be discouraged, this is what all of our great punk rock artists, punk rock songs prepared us for. This is the time, this is the day, this is the place, it is now. It is today, so, you know, this is an interesting opportunity for us to create some of the most outrageous art that we most possibly can.

“This is a time for us to make statements, this is a time for us to band together, this is a time for us to check on our friends and family who need it the most.”

Colby also advised against letting “weird little divisions” get in the way of relationships, while explaining the importance of boundaries.

She added: “Protect your mental health. If there are people within your stratosphere that are difficult or are toxic for you, stay away, man, stay away, don’t waste your energy on these people. Those people genuinely hate themselves, and that’s why they do what they do.”

Colby also reshared various resources, including a video about books on American history, books by queer Palestinian authors and a clip showing women’s self-defense. She also posted an image with the quote: “When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn’t become a king. The palace becomes a circus.”

At the time of writing, her account @daniellecolbywashere was set to private.

Colby wasn’t the only celebrity to mourn Trump’s return to the White House. While some celebrities celebrated the president’s inauguration, many expressed concerns for the future of the country.

Some celebrities also sent their thanks and farewell to former President Joe Biden, while others highlighted policy areas Trump vowed to tackle in his second presidency.

In a post on Bluesky, Funny Girl actor Barbra Streisand criticized Trump for “selling branded merchandise” and “cashing in on the office.”

Horror author Stephen King, a vocal Trump critic, also shared his thoughts on Trump’s inauguration, which was moved inside because of extreme winter conditions in Washington, D.C.

King wrote on Bluesky: “Donald Trump will be indoors for the inauguration with his billionaire pals. His core supporters will be left outside in the cold. Think about that.”
