After anti-Trump comment, ‘American Pickers’ star deactivates social media account
“American Pickers” star Danielle Colby has gone private on social media after posting a comment following the inauguration last week of President Donald Trump.
“Don’t be down, don’t be discouraged, this is what all of our great punk rock artists and punk rock songs prepared us for,” Colby wrote. “This is the time, this is the day, this is the place. It is now, it is today. So, you know, this is an interesting opportunity for us to create some of the most outrageous art we possibly can. This is a time for us to make statements, this is a time for us to band together, this is a time for us to check on our friends and family who need it most.”
Colby said her post was meant to convey “a few words of encouragement” to her fanbase as Trump assumed office for the second time.
People magazine reported that Colby then deactivated her main Instagram account but said that fans could keep in touch by requesting to be added to her private account.
Colby had warned that her Instagram page could disappear “soon.”
“First of all, should this page disappear, which it could, soon… go to @daniellecolbywashere. I’ll also link up to that one too. Um, otherwise, you can follow my Patreon.”
Parade also reported that fans were concerned for Colby, who is a burlesque performer, after she cancelled a Dec. 9 performance in an adult variety show. Colby also said all her events “for the foreseeable future” were also cancelled.
“Had some very serious health issues happening within my family,” she wrote at that time. “I really don’t want to get too much in detail. It’s not my health I’m speaking of.”
