Earlier today, Mike Wolfe shared a glimpse into a collection of Incredible Circus Banners that were hand-painted by George Bellis.
He shared about a handful of banners on his Instagram story while sharing some of the artist’s history.
“George Bellis passed in 1956. We believe these banners to be from his work in the late 1940s,” he began in one story.
“He also painted circus wagons and back drops from the silent movie era.”
Mike revealed that the collection had to be the “largest” of his work.
The American Pickers star also revealed there were nine banners in total.
Some of the banners included the sign for the main entrance of Tiger Bill’s Western Museum.
The other banners consisted of circus acts, including a Giant Rattlesnake, a Human Volcano, a Palm Reader, a Knife Thrower, and others.
Before sharing the banners on his Instagram, Mike shared the collection in an Instagram post.
“Like so many of you, I’ve always been fascinated by the artists who painted these incredible pieces,” he wrote in a post.
“Man what I wouldn’t give to sit down and talk with the guys like George Snap Wyatt and Fred Johnson.”
While Mike doesn’t have all of the late artist’s work, one was sold in 2018 for $1,625, as per Invaluable.
The George Bellis isn’t the only thing Mike has in bulk.
Last week, Mike gave fans a glimpse into his shop, Columbia Motor Alley, where he had an insane bike collection.
Added to his antiques, Mike showed viewers his latest addition, which was a unicycle that had a small engine underneath the wheel.
As he showed his new find, Mike told fans, “I’m gonna give you a moment to take this thing in.”
