American Pickers: What the future holds for the History Channel series in 2025

American Pickers

American Pickers has been a firm favorite among viewers since it first premiered on the History Channel in 2010, but what does the future hold for the antique-picking show?

What’s on the horizon for the beloved cast of American Pickers as we head into 2025? Here’s the scoop.

American Pickers takes viewers along with a crew of antique hunters and history buffs, including the late Frank Fritz, who died in September 2024, and Danielle Colby, as they dig through America’s nooks and crannies for treasures hidden in junkyards, basements, garages, and barns, all while encountering eccentric characters and absorbing their incredible tales.

The brainchild of American Pickers, Mike Wolfe, assured fans via Instagram that he and the rest of the cast were preparing to shoot Season 27 in November 2024. “Morning porch vibes from the beautiful state of Tennessee. Enjoying some much-needed downtime before we start shooting a new season of @americanpickers,” he captioned his post.

He continued: “I first picked up a camera and started filming Frank and my Two Lane adventures back in 2004. We’re almost at the 500 episode mark now. My heart is humbled and grateful that you all still tune in to see America and its wonderful people through our lens.”

He continued: “Just like any family, the one we’ve created has experienced a lot together. There’s been beauty and some sadness around our table. But we remain focused on sharing History and how it connects us all.”

Who will star in American Pickers in 2025?

The star's current net worth is estimated to be $7m.

The primary cast of American Pickers in 2025 will include fan favorite stars Mike and Danielle. Danielle, who joined the series in 2010, will continue to shine as a mainstay of the show. The reality star reassured fans she remains part of the series when she announced that she would have to put her burlesque performances on hold “for the foreseeable future” in December 2024, due to health issues within her family.

In a video posted on social media on Dec. 9, Danielle shared: “Due to some serious health concerns within my family, I need to be there for them right now. I don’t want to delve into specifics as it’s not my health in question. I’m okay, but my family needs me. For the time being, I won’t be traveling for performances. My travels will only be for American Pickers and beyond that, I’ll be here with my family.”

Frank was a part of the team until 2020 when he departed halfway through Season 20. Entertainment Weekly confirmed his exit in 2021. Fritz, the former star of the hit show, won’t be making a comeback as he passed away at the age of 60 in September 2024 following a stroke.

After Frank’s tragic passing, Mike shared a heartfelt tribute post on Instagram in memory of his co-star. At the time, he penned: “I’ve known Frank for more than half my life and what you’ve seen on TV has always been what I have seen, a dreamer who was just as sensitive as he was funny.”

He continued: “The same off camera as he was on, Frank had a way of reaching the hearts of so many by just being himself. We’ve been on countless trips and shared so many miles and I feel blessed that I was there by his side when he took one last journey home. I love you buddy and will miss you so much I know you’re in a better place.”

American Pickers continues despite poor ratings

American Pickers

After Frank’s exit from the reality series, the ratings for American Pickers has tanked, but despite a dip in viewership, the History Channel series has been renewed for another season. Throughout this season, fans have issued a number of complaints with the show from the series promotion of “overpriced” collectibles to showcasing “fake” items.

In the wake of this string of complaints, viewership has plummeted. During the Dec. 4 episode, only 584,000 viewers tuned in which was a substantial decrease from the previous week which was met with an audience of 623,000. These numbers overall are much lower than previous seasons. During season 25, American Pickers used to attract an average audience of 837,500 viewers.
