**COAST GUARD RESPONDS TO VESSEL FIRE**
The U.S. Coast Guard is en route to the last known location of the *Western Venture*,
reported to be on fire as of 8:00 a.m.
To cover the vast search area, the Coast Guard has deployed a C-130 long-range surveillance aircraft.
Eyewitnesses describe the dire situation:
“The *Western Venture* is on fire. They issued a mayday.
There’s nowhere to go but into the water,” one observer said.
